The party continues for Charlottesville's 250th anniversary celebration, and Monday brought some international flavor.
"Its such a historic moment for us," said City Manager Maurice Jones. "You don't get a chance to celebrate these types of milestones very often."
The city celebrated the milestone at a Charlottesville Civic Ceremony held at the N'Telos Wireless Pavilion.
Charlottesville was incorporated in 1762. The city is named after Queen Sophia Charlotte, wife of King George III. It's also the historic hometown of Thomas Jefferson.
Another topic during the ceremony was the role of the University of Virginia in the community.
"We also have to continue to grow and develop the university. The university is going to be an even bigger part our future," said Senator Creigh Deeds.
The ceremony drew people from all over the world.
"It's just full of culture, full of so many nice people and diversity," said Friendship Forces member Babs Fickes. Friendship Forces is an international group advocating for world peace.
"There is just such a rich culture and such a rich history here and so much to look forward to," said Deeds.
Many people say are looking forward to what's in store in the next 250 years.
