A part of Elliott Avenue will get a new design.
City Council approved a streetscape project for the area on Monday night. The project will mean more trees and an improved design along the road.
"Trees kind of instigated the whole street section discussion," said City Councilor Kathy Galvin after Monday night's meeting.
Council unanimously approved the work.
"It's like a great gateway to this new, kind of re-imagined part of town, which is the strategic investment area. But it's gonna connect up to Cherry Avenue, too, so that's also a nice segue into Ridge Street and into the neighborhood beyond," said Galvin.
The cost for design of the project is projected to cost about $43,000. The construction cost is not known.
This was the first of two times that City Council will consider the Elliott Avenue project. The final vote will be at City Council's next meeting on December 2.
