The Charlottesville Newsplex is proud to host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand on Thursday, October 25 from 7:00 am - 7:00 pm. We have previously run lemonade stands at Patriotism in the Park and Fridays After Five, and we are excited to continue our fundraising efforts.
Alex Scott passed away at the age of 8 from neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. Her legacy lives on at lemonade stands around the country. We have supported the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in large part because our very own Anchor/Reporter Chris Stover has been one of the country’s most successful fundraisers for this cause. A pediatric cancer survivor himself, Chris hosted his first lemonade stand in 2005, and is among the Top 100 fundraisers in the country.
There are three ways you can donate to this great cause:
1) At the Newsplex lemonade stand outside Barnes & Noble at the Barracks Road Shopping Center. At the stand, the cost of a cup of lemonade is simply a donation to help fight childhood cancer.
2) By texting LEMONADE CVILLE to 85944 to donate $10 to the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. A one-time donation of $10 will be added to your mobile phone bill or deducted from your prepaid balance. Message and Data Rates May Apply.
3) By calling (866) 333-1213 between the hours of 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 25 and pledging a donation to the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
