The Charlottesville City school system is still $800,000 in the hole, even after finding some ways to save money.
During an upcoming meeting with City Council, the district will ask council for additional funding.
Board members are planning to reduce services, as well as possibly increasing class sizes.
“We'll be requesting some additional funding to meet our shortfall,” says Juandiego Wade of the Charlottesville School Board. “They've been very generous with us in the past. We are going to let them know the position that we are in and see if they can help us out more.”
The shortfall is blamed on the lack of funding from the state. Over the last five years funding has decreased 25 percent.
