The Animal Medical Center of Charlottesville gave rabies vaccinations on Saturday for only $10 dollars.
The center's veterinarian says they haven't done a clinic like this in 10 years, but because of the bad economic situations for most families and with vaccinations being pretty pricey, they were happy to help lots of dogs, cats and their families on Saturday.
"If she does try to get out the back door and explore a little bit, we have some neighborhood cats that even if they have a rabies shot, she could get a hold of a cat that doesn't have one and get in a fight and we just don't want her to get sick," said Kathy Jones, a resident of Mineral.
With her new cat Oreo, Jones says it's important to keep up with vaccinations and it does help that it's only $10 this time around.
