By the looks of the box office at the Regal Stonefield Stadium 14, lots of locals decided to spend their holidays at the movies.
"We thought about going skiing but we decided a little too late that we were not going to that, so this morning we decided we're going to do this," said Hailey Behrman, who saw A Madea Christmas with her family.
"This is the first year that we've lived here," Behrman said. "We just moved, so we're trying to find a new thing to do on Christmas, so we're going to see a movie."
Another moviegoer, Kris Thomas, took the opportunity to have a quick reunion with his friends.
"We're all back in town from school, so we're just out having a guys' day to see Sylvester Stallone and Robert DeNiro box it out," Thomas said, referencing the movie Grudge Match.
Grudge Match is one of a number of movies that premiered on Christmas day, and those flicks are enough to pull people out of their homes on the holiday.
"We're usually with the family, but we haven't seen each other this break so far, so we were all around," Thomas said.
For some, though, it's a family affair.
"This is a family tradition," said Tania Eastman. "We come out to the movies on Christmas day."
The Eastman family has been going to the movies on Christmas for years. This year
"I mean, it's just something fun to do," said Kyle Eastman. "It's something that we all relate with. We all like movies, so it's an easy way to spend time with the family and whatnot."
