UPDATE: Suspect in Custody at Conn. University

The Associated Press is reporting that officials say one person is in custody following the sighting of an armed man at Central Connecticut State University.

CBS News - Central Connecticut State University is urging students to remain indoors due to a campus emergency.

A campus police spokesperson confirmed to CBS News that students are being asked to seek shelter. She also told CBS that they do not have an active shooter on campus.

CBS Affiliate WFSB was told by numerous students of sightings of a masked man with a gun, or a man wearing camouflage and carrying a knife, entering a dormitory, but that has not been confirmed by police.

Students have reportedly barricaded themselves inside their dorm rooms at James Hall.

CBS Affiliate WFSB reports the heavy police presence on campus included SWAT teams and police dogs. The station said three SWAT teams are conducting a sweep of the area.

CBS News - Central Connecticut State University is urging students to remain indoors due to a campus emergency.

The New Britain university's website urged people Monday to get inside buildings and stay there.

University spokesman Mark McLaughlin declined to disclose the nature of the emergency. He says there is an emergency and police are urging officials to alert everyone on campus to get inside.

CBS Affiliate WFSB reports New Britain police are on the scene; they did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and no further details were immediately available.

WFSB was told by numerous students that a masked man with a gun was seen entering a dormitory, but that has not been confirmed by police.

One witness told WFSB of a high police presence on campus, including SWAT teams and police dogs.
