Drivers should expect more delays along West Main Street in Charlottesville.
From Friday to Monday one lane will be closed going east towards downtown Charlottesville as crews install a 30,000 gallon water tank in the new Battle Building, near the UVa Children’s Hospital, scheduled to be open June of 2014.
One lane will be closed from 6 AM to 9PM and crews will be directing traffic around the construction site.
Drivers are asked to use caution when in the construction zone.
“Don't wait until the last minute to make that journey out. Give yourself about another 10 or 15 minute drive time to get to your destination,” says Lieutenant Ronnie Roberts of the Charlottesville Police Department. “Remember, just because that one particular road is closed doesn't mean that there's not an alternate route.”
The lane closure will also impact CAT buses. The Free Trolley along with routes 4, 6 and 7 will be detoured going east on West Main.
In case of bad weather this weekend, construction will be pushed back to Friday December 13th through the 16th.
