The FAA announced it will close the control tower at Lynchburg Regional Airport, and 148 other federal contract towers.
The towers are closing because of the automatic spending cuts. The Lynchburg Regional Airport is the only tower in Virginia closing.
As many as five people could lose their jobs as a result of the closing.
Planes will still be able to land and take off from Lynchburg, but will be monitored from a control tower in Roanoke.
The closure is effective Aprtil 7.
