Crews Continue Work to Repair Closed Dick Woods Road

July 13, 2013

Crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation are working on a section of Dick Woods Road that flooded Thursday night and caused it to collapse.

VDOT says it could take several days to complete. Crews need to lay a new stormwater drainage pipe and then re-pave the road.

An overnight storm Friday caused flood waters to cut a 6-foot trench in the road, making it impossible to cross.

The road is causing problems for those needing to get to the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority landfill. A detour is available at the following route:

From Dick Woods Road, left onto Dry Bridge Road.
Left onto Gillums Ridge Road.
Left onto Broad Axe Road.
Left to return to Dick Woods Road.
