Crozet residents, Connie and D.B. Sandridge are using their electric lantern to help guide them through their home after losing power.
They are emptying perishable food items out of their refrigerator and into coolers filled with ice.
"We went up to Richmond today and we bought ice on the way home. We had seen on Facebook that the lights had gone out in some places, we wanted to be prepared for that," said Connie.
