Culeper Man Sentenced for Fraudulent Craigslist Sex-ads

Nov. 15, 2013

A man who had posted sex-ads on Craigslist, posing as his ex-girlfriend, will spend the next five and half years in federal prison.

Sixty-one-year-old Kenneth Kuban cried in federal court as the judge announced the sentence. Kuban has pleaded guilty to three felonies, including using the internet to stalk his ex-girlfriend, and identity fraud. He used his work computer at the Library of Congress in Culpeper to post over 100 sex ads on Craigslist.

"And in his desire to, in his words, make her life a living hell, he posed as her on Craigslist and essentially solicited men from all over the region to come to her residence and have sex with her,” U.S. District Attorney Tim Heaphy said. “He did that repeatedly through the Craigslist website."

Over 100 men responded to the Craigslist ads and showed up at the victim's house. She spoke during Friday's sentencing, saying her life will never be the same and she fears the images of her on the internet will be there forever.

Six men who had responded to the ads were arrested for trespassing.
