Culpeper Motel Evacuated Due to Flooding

CULPEPER, Va. (AP) - A motel in Culpeper has been evacuated due to flooding spawned by heavy rain.

Media outlets report that about 50 occupants had to leave the Sleepy Hollow Motel early Monday morning. Chest-high water was reported in some rooms.

The town says it received about 5-and-a-half inches of rain since Sunday night.

The American Red Cross opened a shelter at the Culpeper County Volunteer Rescue Squad Co. 11 building.

Flooding also was reported at two parks and a tractor supply store.
