The fourth annual candy buyback is weighing in heavy.
Husband and wife dentists the Rices have bought back 220 pounds of candy as of Friday night, and expect more.
"One time I had to miss one of my kids' Halloweens and it was awful and I just can't imagine what it's like for those guys and gals who are away from their children for all these special events. It's just our way of saying thanks and hopefully we're preventing a little bit of tooth decay along the way too," said Dr. James Rice.
"I thought it was very fun," said Lucy, who, along with her sister, turned in candy on Friday afternoon and got her face painted as a tiger.
If you would like to donate some candy to the troops but didn't make it out on Friday, you can drop it off at the Rices' Crozet or Nellysford offices within a few days and they will add it to their shipment.

The dentists with Doctors Rice & Associates are holding their annual candy buyback, offering a dollar per pound of candy. They then send that candy across the world.
"We package that up and send it, it gets sent overseas via a nonprofit organization called Operation Gratitude," says Dr. Jennifer Rice. "They distribute care packages to the troops to bring them some Halloween sweets to make them smile."
Kids can also write a letter to a soldier to go in the care packages.
Over the last four years, more than 1,200 pounds of candy have been collected.
