The University of Virginia Medical Center annual Main Event Gala at Keswick Hall took on another theme this year -- Soiree. Proceeds from the event help fund the construction of the Battle Building, an outpatient pediatric facility.
"So many people have given so much to make this a reality, and I think the reality is going to exceed their expectations," said UVa. Health System CEO Ed Howell.
The facility has been years in the making, and those closest to project say when finished, its services will mean so such for the community and families it serves.
It's going to make it so much easier now for children and their families when they have an appointment now they go into one building.
"We have excellent services. The challenge is that it's not all together. The Battle Building brings it all together, under one roof for our children," said Howell.
Though the annual event is for a good cause, it doesn't stop donors from having fun.
"It feels very jovial it definitely does. It feels like a lot of camaraderie. We want to make sure our guest feel like we are celebrating, what we've already succeed at raising," said co-chair Maddy Deal.
Organizers are hoping to raise $250,000.
