A Virginia House subcommittee has moved Helen Dragas’ reappointment forward.
Members of UVa’s Student Council went to Richmond on Thursday to speak out against Dragas and hopefully sway delegates.
“We really value the sense of honor and the community of trust, and with that, open governance and a commitment to transparency,” said Neil Branch, a member of the Student Council. “We believe neither of which Helen Dragas has shown.”
UVa's Student Council passed a resolution last week that does not endorse Helen Dragas for reappointment to the Board of Visitors.
The hearing in the House comes after Virginia’s Senate voted 29 to 9 Monday to support Governor McDonnell’s decision to reappoint Dragas.
Another committee will vote on Friday before possibly going to the Virginia House of Delegates for a final vote.
