The Earth Week organization announced the winners of the Eco Fair artwork contest.

A winner from each grade received a certificate and gift card at the Main Street Arena. The contest featured artwork done by Charlottesville students. Earth Week invited students from grades K-12 to submit their work.

"I know bees are very, very important because they spread pollen which makes seeds," said Hannah Russell, the Grade 4 winner. "So, I thought, that's kind of cool."

Maggie Winter won for the Kindergarten grade level for her crayon drawing of, as she said, "a rainbow forest."

"I love doing art and I liked it," said Winter.

The students' artwork will be on display on Sunday at the Main Street Arena during this year's Eco Fair.

Earth Week is a local branch of Earth Day International. It is an annual series of events in Charlottesville and surrounding counties that celebrate Earth Day, including the annual Eco Fair.
