Members of the Orange Co. Education Foundation (OCEF) rode around the in a school bus today to deliver grants to the most innovative teachers in the county.
Their first stop on the tour was at Orange Co. High School.
Lorraine Ryan received $250 dollars for her scholarship fund.
"I asked for scholarship money towards the writers block school newspaper," says Ryan. "We had opportunities to get grant money for things we believed in to help the kids and to encourage them to write, write well and to be involved in something that means something to them."
Thomas dixon received a grant for his music class.
"What we are aiming to do is purchase ukuleles and materials for instruction on that instrument for my students in the music appreciation class," says Dixon. "They will actually get instruction on how to play solo and in group settings."
Dixon and Ryan also thanked the foundation and they hope to continue to inspire and educate with the help of these grants.
The board members went around to eight schools in Orange Co. and personally delivered grants to 16 teachers.
