Local power companies are preparing for possible outages with the coming weekend storm.
The Central Virginia Electric Cooperative and The Rappahannock Electric Cooperative both say they have extra crews standing by and ready to answer calls about outages.
They are recommending you stay away from any downed power lines, and don't attempt to cut any trees on power lines. Also, to have a storm kit at home, just in case. The kit should include flashlights, batteries, a manual can opener, and a battery-powered radio.
