Emergency responders help man hit by a piece of metal at a salvage yard.
Members of the Charlottesville Fire Department and Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad responded to Gredau Salvage Yard on Meade Avenue for a load operator who was it by a metal spring, that was identified as part of the suspension of a car.
"We just had to get there and make a scene assessment, a patient assessment," says Deputy Chief Landon Harris of the Charlottesville Rescue Squad. "We used a simple method to get him down, a stokes basket, via a ground ladder and a rope to get him to the ground and from the paramedic to the ambulance."
He was then transported to UVA hospital, and is reported to have non-life threatening injuries.
Gerdau Salvage Yard is not releasing any other infomation at this time.
