Ex-Teacher Gets 8 Years in Plot to Kill Ex-Husband

Sept. 20, 2013

A former Franklin County kindergarten teacher has been sentenced to eight years in prison for the attempted hired killing of her ex-husband.

Angela Robin Nolen, 47, was sentenced on Friday for the charge of soliciting murder. She was also ordered to serve 2,000 hours of community service, teaching people who have been incarcerated.

Nolen and a co-worker approached an undercover state police sergeant and agreed to pay him $8,000 to kill Paul Strickler, a retired school administrator.

The co-worker, Cathy Warren Bennett, pleaded guilty in August to conspiring to solicit murder.

Nolen and Strickler married in 2000 and divorced last year. Court records show Nolen was granted full custody of their 7-year-old daughter. She later was issued a protective order that blocked Strickler from contacting her.

Both women were suspended from their jobs at Sontag Elementary upon their arrest.
