LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) - A former coach and teacher in Lynchburg will spend three months in jail after his conviction on a felony charge of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl.
The News and Advance reports that George Weston Katze was ordered by a Circuit Court judge Friday to serve the jail time. The former teacher and coach at Jefferson Forest High School pleaded no contest in August to taking indecent liberties with a minor while in a custodial relationship. He also pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of consensual sex with a minor over 15 years old.
Katze testified that the girl was not in any of his classes.
A prosecutor said Katze had two sexual encounters with the student.
