The Fluvanna County Board of Supervisors will have a new chairperson next year.
Current chair Shaun Kenney says he is not running for re-election.
Kenney, a Republican, says he wants to spend more time with his kids, and working on his business.
"The reason we came out here to Fluvanna was to raise a family, goof off, and grow things in the garden," said Kenney. "It really wasn't to get involved in local politics."
Kenney has been on the board since 2010.
He says his proudest accomplishment on the board is fixing a $7 million budget gap.
His last day on the board will be December 31.
