The former Boy Scout troop leader accused of sexually assaulting a child remains behind bars.
An attorney for David Watkins waived a request for Watkins to be released on bail. His attorney is not commenting on why the request was dropped. The bond hearing was scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Monday morning at the Albemarle Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.
The 49-year-old Keswick man is charged with sodomizing a child under the age of 13. Court documents show the abuse allegedly took place back in 2005 but that it wasn't until several years later that the victim came forward.
The search warrants for the case have been sealed.
Watkins is due back in court December 17 at 10:30 a.m. for a preliminary trial.
