The Charlottesville Sports and Social Club has organized a 5K run to benefit victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. The event will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Riverview Park.

The group is asking runners for a $20 donation that will go to the charity One Fund Boston.

"Our sports and social club, in contact with lots of other sports and social clubs kind of up the east coast and across the country, are trying to do the same thing," said Matt Hudson, a member of the club. "It's kind of a mini-movement that we're trying to make happen."

After the race, McGrady's Irish Pub in Charlottesville is hosting a brunch. Ten percent of proceeds from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. will go to the cause.

Pre-registration is recommended, but runners can also sign up on site.
