Fuel Spill Closes Albemarle County Road for Hours

May 11, 2013

After an hours-long closure, an Albemarle County road has reopened after a fuel spill.

The spill happened on Milton Road around 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The road was closed between Milton Hills and the Thomas Jefferson Parkway.

Police say gasoline leaked from a car driving on the road.

The closure lasted just shy of three hours. VDOT placed sand on the road to cover the fuel, but police warn drivers of some potential slick spots, especially with the possibility of rain in the forecast.
