Gas prices nationwide are up for the 29th day in row, climbing 7 cents to a national average of $3.64 per gallon.
In Charlottesville, the price is also up, but a dime below the national average at $3.54.
Prices are the most expensive ever for this time of year, and crude oil prices are largely to blame. Many refineries are also closed for maintenance and to switch to a summer blend, which is also cause for the hike.
Auto group AAA expects price increases to slow but still continue through April, when they say gas prices will reach a peak near $4 per gallon.
The peak, though, is not expected to reach the 2011 or 2012 highs.
