Governor Bob McDonnell wants to add $4.9 million in budget amendments to help educate Virginia's visually impaired students.
The money would be used to cover costs of teachers, teacher’s aides and staff for blind or visually impaired.
Speaking about the budget proposal, McDonnell said,“Funding the blind or visually impaired staffing standards is an important step to continue ensuring that every child, regardless of their particular situation, has access to a quality education."
There are more than one thousand blind or visually impaired students in Virginia.
