Governor Bob McDonnell's office is weighing in on the arrest of a UVa student by Alcoholic Beverage Control for assaulting an officer. Those charges have since been dropped, but the Governor's office issued this statement:
"The Governor is aware of this issue. The Secretary of Public Safety has spoken with ABC officials and is monitoring the matter closely. Following the court's recent action, ABC initiated a further, more in depth review of the incident."
Undercover ABC officers attempted to arrest 20 year old Elizabeth Daly while she was walking out of Harris Teeter, thinking a case of sparkling water she had bought was beer. The student, who says she panicked and didn't know they were law enforcement officers, drove off, striking two of the officers.
The ABC says they are reviewing the incident, and that an earlier review by the agency found no wrongdoing.
