Andrea Whitmarsh was appointed the new Superintendent for Greene County schools Wednesday. Whitmarsh is the current Assistant Superintendent for Instruction with Greene County schools and joined the school district in 2003 - working as a teacher then as a principal.
She says her appointment by the school board is an honor.
"We never have this many people come to a school board meeting," said Whitmarsh. "For this many staff members and parents and community members to come out to show their support of the schools is just amazing, and I am incredibly honored."
She will assume her new role on May 1. Greene County schools will post her resume online on their website.
