After a blaze at the Barracks Road shopping center last month, the damaged stores have slowly been able to reopen their doors to the public.
The Happy Cook is the first store that has been able to reopen after the structure had been repaired and the merchandise had been replaced.
"We really didn't think this was going to be much of a time closed, just a few days max, but we just realized there are a lot of implications obviously doing the entire cleanup of the girders and the roof and replacing the floors," Monique Moshier, owner of The Happy Cook, said.
"This morning, we got here around 8:30 a.m. and we really pushed it until the last minute," said Taylor Wesa, an employee who has been working at The Happy Cook for the past seven years. "We were all working and it was nice to do the last-minute finishing touches like that."
The Happy Cook was able to officially reopen this morning at 10 a.m. Employees say customers were so thrilled with the reopening that people were lining up early.
