Students at Western Albemarle High School are running a mock election, complete with school-wide campaigns for the men running for governor and attorney general.
After a month of research on the candidates, the students created campaigns tailored toward their fellow classmates.
Students said that they learned a lot, not just about the candidates, but also about the voting process.
"We've done a lot more research than a lot of the voters have," said Henry Chiles, a 12th grade student. "A lot of the voter just see the ads on TV and are just gonna go with their party."
The students created campaign websites, ads, buttons and posters. Teachers say the goal was to get them excited about the election, and help them become more informed voters in the future.
