High Waters in Crozet Slow Traffic

June 17, 2013

The water continued to rise into Monday night in Crozet as storms brought heavy rain to the area.

Crozet was hit with a few inches of rain in just a few hours.

There was standing water in the road near the intersection of Crozet Avenue and Tabor Street.

Around 10:45 p.m., Albemarle County police set up flares near the intersection to slow drivers while a Virginia Department of Transportation crew made its way to the area to determine whether to shut down the road to traffic.

VDOT spokesman Lou Hatter says, even if a road is not officially closed, drivers should use caution when approaching any road covered by water.
