Historic Culpeper Mansion on the Market

(AP) - A historic mansion in Culpeper built for Confederate Gen. A.P. Hill's brother is up for sale.

The Italianate style Hill Mansion is listed for $895,000.

It was completed in 1857 for Hill's older brother, Edward Baptist Hill. During the Civil War, it served as both a Confederate hospital and a Union headquarters. The mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Marie Johnson and her husband have owned the property since 1992. She tells The Star-Exponent that she loves the mansion but it's time to move on.
