After months of planning the Ix Art Park is now open for the Charlottesville community. The grand opening kicked off with the Rainbow Rush 5K, where runners were hit with colors throughout the race.

At the grand opening there was also plenty of food, sculptures and interactive art.

The organizer says this is just the beginning and is asking that the community comes out and participate.

“Everybody has an idea, everybody has an artist inside themselves,” says Brian Wimer. “If you play music, if you paint, if you sculpt, if you ever wanted to do those things, come and do them here.”

The next phase of the art park is the creation of a forest meadow, with plants and sculptures throughout the walkway.
