RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - If you're feeling that those who govern Virginia or aspire to govern in eight short months are being less than forthcoming, you're not alone.
In the governor's race, Democrat Terry McAuliffe claimed in December that Virginia wasn't interested in his company's electric car factory. Turns out the company, GreenTech Automotive, didn't get Virginia incentives because it never answered all of Virginia officials' questions.
Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli let his office represent Virginia in a $700,000 tax lawsuit brought by Star Scientific. It's the lone company in which Cuccinelli held stock and whose CEO, Jonnie Williams, showered him with gifts.
Now Cuccinelli's office oversees a multijurisdictional grand jury probe of a former executive mansion chef who catered a governor's daughter's wedding reception that Star Scientific CEO Williams largely paid for.
