There are still a few days left to submit questions that could be asked at next week's back-to-back candidate forums hosted by the Jefferson Area Tea Party.
The forums, which are open to the public, will take place in the Lane Auditorium at the Albemarle County Office Building on Thursday, September 26.
The JATP is seeking submissions for questions the public would like answered at the forums.
All four candidates for Charlottesville City Council will be up first at 6 p.m. Then, all candidates for the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, aside from Rodney Thomas, who will be out of town, are scheduled to participate at 7 p.m.
"If you really want to have a strong voice in your local government, and let's face it, local government is the government that touches your family most day-to-day -- taxes, roads -- this is a great opportunity to vet these folks because you're electing them for long-term terms," said Jefferson Area Tea Party chairwoman Carole Thorpe.
Citizens do not have to attend the forum to submit a question for consideration. All submissions will remain anonymous.
Citizens are asked to email their questions to JATPcontact@aol.com.
The JATP will pool all questions received by midnight on Sunday, September 22 and then select which questions will be asked at the forum.
The JATP is also soliciting questions from the current and past elected officials, and local media outlets among others.
