JMRL Excited With Funding For Libraries in Albemarle Budget

The proposed Albemarle County budget gives lots of support to education including an increase in funding to libraries.
The county would give a total of $377,000 to the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library.
That's nearly a $200,000 increase. Some of the money will go to the libraries as a whole, while a big chunk directly supports the new Crozet library.
The Jefferson-Madison Regional Library is one of the busiest systems in the country, which is why its director says he's happy for the support.
"I think everybody in the county is going to be thrilled to know the County Executive has recommended significant funding to operate that much larger library that's going to serve all of western Albemarle County," said John Halliday, JMRL Library Director.
Officials will sign documents on Wednesday to start purchasing furniture for the new library, which is set to open in August.
