Former Charlottesville City Council candidate James Halfaday was back in court today.
Halfaday appeared in court after being charged with violating his parole, where he was accused of sending a threatening email to his former domestic partner.
In early October, Halfaday was ordered to not have any contact with his former domestic partner as part of his probation on charges of election fraud.
A few weeks later, prosecutors said Halfaday uploaded a 13 minute tribute to his dead cat onto YouTube, where he claimed his former partner had a role in the animals' death.
Prosecutors say Halfaday also sent an email to his former partner in early January which led to the violation of his parole.
For now, Halfaday will remain in jail, where he's been since his arrest nearly a month ago.
Halfaday has asked the court for permission to move to Illinois, where his mother lives.
He will likely be held in the Albemarle -Charlottesville regional jail until that move is finalized.
