It's official, Charlottesville has a new City Treasurer.
Jason Vandever was sworn in on Thursday after winning a special election against John Pfaltz earlier in the week.
It was Charlottesville's first special election in over 30 years.
Vandever says he is looking forward to working on the city's new tax system.
"I'm really looking forward to the next couple months as we work on a couple projects such as our integrated tax system that's going to bring all our tax revenue under one account," said Vandever. "We're also working on some online bill payment improvements."
Since he won in a special election, Vandever will have to run again in November to keep his seat.
