A local organization that works to help parents help their families recognized the challenging work of those mothers, fathers, and grandparents.

Jefferson Area Children's Health Improvement Program, or CHIP, hosted its 2nd annual Imagine Awards. The awards honored the achievements of CHIP families who have worked hard to rise above diverse and difficult obstacles to provide a healthy home and a promising future for their children.

"They have worked hard to provide a loving home, to access the resources they need, to take care of their children, to get the health care that they need, to find a medical home, to get signed up for insurance, to get them enrolled in preschool -- all of those things that a lot of us take for granted but for some people, it's just not that easy," said Molly Fulton, Director of Development for the Jefferson Area CHIP.

The Newsplex's Stephanie Satchell emceed the awards night. She handed out three awards, recognizing Selena Garcia, Joyce Sandridge, and Wendy Miranda.

Fulton says the community is pivotal in helping chip and its families achieve success. "We're trying to inform the community about how they can come in and support an undergrowth of work that CHIP is doing and that these parents are doing, and help them have access to the resources, the education."
