The League of Women Voters tackled a major issue for many area families...affordable child care.
The group talked about making sure children have access to quality care in the early years. They also discussed how policy can impact funding for early childhood care.
Barbara Hutchinson of the United Way said cost is a huge issue for many families that want what is best for their children.
"I think the number one barrier to successful childcare in our area is the cost. And for example some of the scholarships that we've written recently for infant care $250 dollars a week. And for someone that makes $20,000 or $25,000 a year, $250 a week is a barrier."
City councilor Kristin Szakos and a manager from Children Youth and Family Services were the featured speakers.
