Likely Delay for Tax Refunds After Fiscal Cliff Debate

Your tax refund could be delayed this year, because Congress waited until the last minute to handle the fiscal cliff.

Liberty Tax Service in Charlottesville says the IRS is working quickly to apply all the new tax laws, but they are at least a week behind. The new tax laws are also delaying state tax forms, including those in Virginia.

"I've been doing taxes off and on for 19 years, and...we've never been this late," said Michelle Miller from Liberty Tax Service. "Our president, John Hewitt, has said that this is the worst he's ever seen and...this is his 45th year."

Miller also says they are getting updates from the IRS daily, about how to implement changes to the tax laws.
