Two local groups have teaming up to help make improvements to senior housing in Albemarle County.
Albemarle Housing Improvement Program and Board of Realtors are raising money to refurbish senior citizens' homes. The improvement range from basic plumbing fixes, to patching roofs. Board of Realtors member, Debbie Cash, says the changes, are all about making seniors feel safe and independent at home.
""There are over 200 seniors currently on a waiting list for some sort of refurbishing of their homes that they currently live in such as handicapped access, painting, roofing, plumbing," said Cash. "Whatever they need,to solidify independence where they live."
The groups hope to raise $30,000 by July 1st to make the needed upgrades to the homes on their waiting list.
