A Louisa woman who gave her 6-month-old son a lethal amount of Benadryl has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Tristan Goodwin was sentenced Monday, May 12, in Louisa County Circuit Court.
Goodwin had pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and felony child neglect in March.
Her son, Tyler, died at the family's home in March of 2013.
Prosecutors say emergency crews originally thought the child's death was due to sudden infant death syndrome, but lab results indicated a lethal dose of over-the-counter allergy medication in his system.
