The Louisa County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in an ongoing investigation into the larceny of scrap metal from a residence off of Kennon Road, outside the Town of Mineral.
Authorities received several tips after posting surveillance pictures of the suspects on the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
“All but one of the concerned citizens gave the name of ‘Billy’ or Billy Bentley”, said Detective Stanton. “Sales of scrap metal by Mr. Bentley were tracked and it was found that he had sold items on the same day as the larceny. After further investigation into identifying those items sold as scrap on that day by Mr. Bentley, it was determined to be the same items stolen from the address on Kennon Rd.”
The suspect wearing the green hat was positively identified as Billy Bentley. He was arrested Monday and charged with felony breaking and entering, grand larceny and trespassing. He is being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.
The second suspect in this photo has not been identified. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Stanton at 540-967-1234 or anonymously call Crime Solvers at 1-800-346-1466.
