Monticello High School cast members of the student musical In the Heights are bringing together two communities through music and friendships after taking a chance on this unique musical.

The spring musical brought together a diverse cast and also a diverse audience this weekend.

The Saturday matinee performance was a fundraiser for Creciendo Juntos, an organization dedicated to spread education throughout the Latino community. It raised more than $1,500 for the group.

Cast members say they have made life-long friendships and impressions on each other but they hope to make a bigger difference, too.
