The man accused of robbing an Albemarle County bank is asking to defend himself in court.

John Adolf Reich is charged with robbing the SunTrust bank located inside the Kroger grocery store in the Rio Hill Shopping Center back in September.

On Thursday, Reich asked a judge for the right to defend himself against a larceny charge, but wanted a public defender for the charge of robbery.

If approved, that would mean Reich would go to trial two times.

The judge continued the case until February in order to decide what to do.
