The Louisa County man charged in the sexual assault of a child could face life in prison.
36 year-old Joe Leake of Montpelier faces five charges in the abduction and assault of a 10 year-old girl.
At a hearing Friday morning, the prosecution said they intended to utilize Bell's Law.
The law, sponsored by Delegate Rob Bell, requires a mandatory life sentence for those convicted of certain sex offenses against a child less than 13.
A preliminary hearing for the case is set for April 29.
Leake is being held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.
