Charlottesville's Board of Architectural Review is looking at new plans for a proposed Marriott hotel a block from the Downtown Mall.
The seven-story Residence Inn would be built at the intersection of West Main Street and Ridge-McIntire Road, across from the Federal Courthouse.
The site is currently an art studio and a U-HAUL dealer. If approved, the hotel could be built and opened by 2014.
